Jake Parrillo is a Senior Vice President at Edelman Public Relations Worldwide (Edelman) where he leads a team of communications marketing pros who provide counsel and services to a range of brands and organizations big and small including work with Western Union, Mars/Wrigley, Businessolver, Cleversafe, Liftmaster, BPOC, Interactive Intelligence and more. Prior to joining Edelman, Jake was the Midwest Manager of Global Communications and Public Affairs at Google. In his years at Google, Jake lead initiatives for launching and promoting Google Maps, Google Books, Google Ads, Android, Google Politics, office and data center openings, executive visibility for the Ads leadership team and more.
Jake joined Google in 2007 with the acquisition of FeedBurner, where he was one of three 'true believers' on the Publisher Services Team that worked with publishers large and small to adopt FeedBurner to manage and monetize their distributed content. Before FeedBurner, Jake spent some time in politics including work as the Special Assistant to the House Minority Leader where he built and lead their digital operation. While there, he created the "Draft Ditka" movement that eventually got then State Senator Barack Obama elected to the United States Senate. The rest is, well, history. He also worked to create the first ever, state-based digital persuasive game called "Take Back Illinois". Jake also authored both the JoinCrossBlog and RhodesSchool which covered Illinois politics. He got his start professionally back at the beginning of the millenium by selling drywall screws for Compass, International with a territory that included North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Iowa and Minnesota. Those were the days!
Jake maintains a personal blog where he writes about gardening, pizza, vintage Christmas stuff and garage and estate sale finds. You can keep up with him there. Jake also maintains a link and photo blog at something called 'Over by Dere'.
The url of this site is JakeParrillo.MBA. And...that's because...well...Jake Parrillo, does indeed, have an MBA. (To be perfectly honest...He also wanted to try out these new gTLD's like dot mba. See the story here about the specifics of .MBA in the Economist.) Jake graduated with his Masters of Business Administration in Marketing from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and he has a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communication from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (Go, Illini!) where he spent time on the Fighting Illini football team (punter).
Jake's favorite type of pizza is a thin crust, tavern-style sausage and pepperoni combo, well done. And he likes his beef sandwiches sweet, hot and dipped.
